It's been a crazy summer here with the addition of little M3 (she's doing so well & growing fast) & all kinds of summer fun. With that, I've decided to take a little break from s.b.creatively. I hope to be back, but I have been so busy with my photography that it's given me so little time to photograph/blog our craft time. I've been swamped with photo shoots & editing, but I'm pretty sure that my photo sessions will slow down quite a bit once this beautiful weather goes away. Once that happens, we hope to get back on the bandwagon asap!<br />
</div><div align="center">Until then, keep using the s.b.creatively archives to find fun crafts for the upcoming seasons/holidays. (Click on the links on the far right side of the page for fun past crafts.) <br />
Hopefully everyone has had a great back to school experience. Enjoy my favorite & most beautiful season of the year... FALL! </div><div align="center">Be back soon...</div><div align="center">s.b.</div>s.b.http://www.blogger.com/profile/09206585483406878170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7832483606597909230.post-32116524170172312072011-07-27T15:28:00.002-05:002011-07-27T15:33:00.520-05:00Delicious Summer Baking...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The girls enjoyed these this week for a fun summer treat...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik-V3LSS9L6tux4VJLyorBRxu9NbK5t3mVnsKHGL40Npl_J2cLYcHtvygJUpIO2fDh9gvXSDXrem1l3XunTBtXR-WgphB6hnKbkY-7Kx9l8YyQzszy21xZmXEs9f2WtKF7N8Do93Y46jE/s1600/IMG_0583.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik-V3LSS9L6tux4VJLyorBRxu9NbK5t3mVnsKHGL40Npl_J2cLYcHtvygJUpIO2fDh9gvXSDXrem1l3XunTBtXR-WgphB6hnKbkY-7Kx9l8YyQzszy21xZmXEs9f2WtKF7N8Do93Y46jE/s320/IMG_0583.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Made by a friend & I thought they were soooo cute.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Here is a five senses activity that we dreamed up while crafting this week.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong><em><u>Supplies</u></em></strong>- Magazines, Scissors, Marker, Glue Stick/Glue, Construction Paper</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6j5XxR5TwFCZErDXrf0YCCjmSIteEIpeOlnWRtSIlOFYZVOYwJagxMTYjMr7CrPRvLyA-6jwJx2Zejtsb2Ysq5xbWx3jUn194_KdBi0vf1YC0HzFO2PFkJOHZjvlfQlHFZK50hyefIqY/s1600/IMG_0598.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6j5XxR5TwFCZErDXrf0YCCjmSIteEIpeOlnWRtSIlOFYZVOYwJagxMTYjMr7CrPRvLyA-6jwJx2Zejtsb2Ysq5xbWx3jUn194_KdBi0vf1YC0HzFO2PFkJOHZjvlfQlHFZK50hyefIqY/s320/IMG_0598.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">1. Write "My 5 Senses" across the top of the construction paper.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpno7nYdIW4Eeb7gHeGrFfNTbXwLkaxulCU7izMHBT4LCaTWoNrOdw7uKxjks6JBCYYpHpAFTBr2yq1-0yViD6n5w5F2P2hydt-m0mG_rmuAKAd7f_IE5uc43dAczftufHmoi4_gE_zcE/s1600/IMG_0600.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpno7nYdIW4Eeb7gHeGrFfNTbXwLkaxulCU7izMHBT4LCaTWoNrOdw7uKxjks6JBCYYpHpAFTBr2yq1-0yViD6n5w5F2P2hydt-m0mG_rmuAKAd7f_IE5uc43dAczftufHmoi4_gE_zcE/s320/IMG_0600.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">2. Begin searching through the magazines to find & cut out pictures of the body parts that go along with each of the senses... Eyes, Ears, Nose, Fingers, Mouth (One picture of each.)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3dm4nqbWDLA25sk_8RF8I1FAGU7i2nrqh_l2vOeT2MHFhHqw1anzT0K-R0nO0W_lNX9fp43kPTrTsy3746DoRcAMPUeEI4Fn2mbPkN6ul1IBneWSl0Ejuacx5AGR9K4xw0W-tyYiw5OY/s1600/IMG_0601.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3dm4nqbWDLA25sk_8RF8I1FAGU7i2nrqh_l2vOeT2MHFhHqw1anzT0K-R0nO0W_lNX9fp43kPTrTsy3746DoRcAMPUeEI4Fn2mbPkN6ul1IBneWSl0Ejuacx5AGR9K4xw0W-tyYiw5OY/s320/IMG_0601.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">M1 cutting out an eye...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ_Wt2zjwoM7Yz2OBWyeSwzQvrcUqbAUYbkVmmTulFVWe3Ek97azF6_mbpApv_OsKfLGmmhicJbYdBGplqcJ-AIxVlYEZ3SUXH1RIPwDH8zw7L0u3iy6A7vcK8ujAEGi6eiLP7k2CVt5A/s1600/IMG_0602.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ_Wt2zjwoM7Yz2OBWyeSwzQvrcUqbAUYbkVmmTulFVWe3Ek97azF6_mbpApv_OsKfLGmmhicJbYdBGplqcJ-AIxVlYEZ3SUXH1RIPwDH8zw7L0u3iy6A7vcK8ujAEGi6eiLP7k2CVt5A/s320/IMG_0602.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">3. Glue each of the body parts down the side of the paper as shown below.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQU9MOZ1bcbES_ectv-8doOtGeKGuxN9XLMvN9aGeQPxgriIRJReRlpKx-apie1dIeZ7redlb2MTW2g_M3AClY0xgrOjd5TWj6pIITUVuhv8ZUxtH1oeSjHNB5evJPursDrBzibDJh6b4/s1600/IMG_0603.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQU9MOZ1bcbES_ectv-8doOtGeKGuxN9XLMvN9aGeQPxgriIRJReRlpKx-apie1dIeZ7redlb2MTW2g_M3AClY0xgrOjd5TWj6pIITUVuhv8ZUxtH1oeSjHNB5evJPursDrBzibDJh6b4/s320/IMG_0603.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">4. Now back to the magazines to find & cut out the objects that we use our five senses for.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Example, below M1 found a vaccuum which we can hear with our ears, a hamburger that she can taste with her mouth, etc. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">5. Glue the objects directly across from the body part we use our senses to identify.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNHtEEg-8uHbkbsSFy82ADPqXyWJx3xjc3Aa3-EuoogMzE13pLfq1LsSPjs9aCd_XHa95teU67T5NoS5fvnZV7tJE5DM1vAkvN09lVmk1fGpF2Z18exYOemfurXT6XAq4uUtH6a5cb4mw/s1600/IMG_0604.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNHtEEg-8uHbkbsSFy82ADPqXyWJx3xjc3Aa3-EuoogMzE13pLfq1LsSPjs9aCd_XHa95teU67T5NoS5fvnZV7tJE5DM1vAkvN09lVmk1fGpF2Z18exYOemfurXT6XAq4uUtH6a5cb4mw/s320/IMG_0604.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">6. M1 really wanted to draw a line from the "senses" to the objects on the right hand side...pictured below.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4ba-BN9PFOeGKLMVbfFvIs-u_06__98UEPfXJQrmYFr3Od-vOD7fwpPyqve-5nzEqNZcvYYvPnWABZt_i4RBuMVTwjvk8ytrzb3Fs3FAhHNWSr5ipZLsbURsu-fV-vRMR2POwLCSFZ3M/s1600/IMG_0606.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4ba-BN9PFOeGKLMVbfFvIs-u_06__98UEPfXJQrmYFr3Od-vOD7fwpPyqve-5nzEqNZcvYYvPnWABZt_i4RBuMVTwjvk8ytrzb3Fs3FAhHNWSr5ipZLsbURsu-fV-vRMR2POwLCSFZ3M/s320/IMG_0606.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here she is showing off her finished product. She taught M2 all about her senses afterwards. It was a mini lesson for her as well! A conversation I should have video taped. Too cute!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPZu-34uoAaVtcBrCkty7yz52VdYWrDCu8d4M5iEaggGfBGc9Ib0z8LG-DXNsmxQq3qIrbstifJ05eRoAozfCH8voTt-KgfyzKiP0WbixuHpUKL-hofirFrpjUx_83kYGRM5LgXbCy6w4/s1600/IMG_0608.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPZu-34uoAaVtcBrCkty7yz52VdYWrDCu8d4M5iEaggGfBGc9Ib0z8LG-DXNsmxQq3qIrbstifJ05eRoAozfCH8voTt-KgfyzKiP0WbixuHpUKL-hofirFrpjUx_83kYGRM5LgXbCy6w4/s320/IMG_0608.JPG" width="213px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> Enjoy! s.b.</div>s.b.http://www.blogger.com/profile/09206585483406878170noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7832483606597909230.post-54269930046359365912011-07-06T13:06:00.000-05:002011-07-06T13:06:46.226-05:00Get Well Card<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"> My grandma (the girls' great-gram) had knee replacement surgery this week. It would also be cute to search for the letters in a magazine & glue them down! Just another idea...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgojJ32xZi1SVbbw7BeEdG4HjWimp2AyugQV5dx1Jt4Wjq-d2DtlTz-6p6yd6dI9IMTOyCipgCQxXKRo2EY3YRkeTfJzoStBg9pjpcIdZpzq-hjbbKoghNhgcXGgO1fvavDfQbOXbycd4I/s1600/IMG_1492.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgojJ32xZi1SVbbw7BeEdG4HjWimp2AyugQV5dx1Jt4Wjq-d2DtlTz-6p6yd6dI9IMTOyCipgCQxXKRo2EY3YRkeTfJzoStBg9pjpcIdZpzq-hjbbKoghNhgcXGgO1fvavDfQbOXbycd4I/s320/IMG_1492.JPG" t8="true" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">4. Over the weekend we made an official countdown to make it a little easier for M1 & M2 to understand the timing of when she'll arrive. (I'm scheduled for a c-section, so unless she decides to arrive early we're pretty sure of her official birth date!) The girls are enjoying the countdown & are taking turns ripping the days off as they pass. It's definitely something they look forward to each morning & it really has helped them understand when she'll arrive. AND I'm not getting the "Mommy, is today the day M3 is coming out?" questions 5 times a day anymore!!! Obviously, not all of you are having baby countdowns... BUT this is still a great time to make a countdown of your own. Countdown to the last day of school, a family vacation, a birthday, etc. The possibilities are endless!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is M1 gluing our countdown together... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho1_c6lFtzPktAOc79NsTmHNaoCVFgIpaBKDtpxQlrIfjgTC5vii1eFZYSTodOn9dZ9JI5akCqsnz1_uXEoqA1jkJTd4b4Hr465P905i-PxxG9rkzHi-xXCLiPEPqrMsC7kPSguHMRdXk/s1600/IMG_1327.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho1_c6lFtzPktAOc79NsTmHNaoCVFgIpaBKDtpxQlrIfjgTC5vii1eFZYSTodOn9dZ9JI5akCqsnz1_uXEoqA1jkJTd4b4Hr465P905i-PxxG9rkzHi-xXCLiPEPqrMsC7kPSguHMRdXk/s320/IMG_1327.JPG" t8="true" width="213px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then I wrote the title across the top since she thought it was too much for her to write... she can get lazy at times!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYQu_MMbloxxB8jUy79fSJnPAjndqZLPxGEdqYFqHYBeD1xzseKTT91_Tk-5Flj3fciZbVx2EaS2w5JpUpE8lBauFATXU7rvfBV6_Njaf5odqo96CdveYRRCPSwdIC4QlvD4IZu5yyHh4/s1600/IMG_1328.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYQu_MMbloxxB8jUy79fSJnPAjndqZLPxGEdqYFqHYBeD1xzseKTT91_Tk-5Flj3fciZbVx2EaS2w5JpUpE8lBauFATXU7rvfBV6_Njaf5odqo96CdveYRRCPSwdIC4QlvD4IZu5yyHh4/s320/IMG_1328.JPG" t8="true" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">M1 wrote all of the countdown numbers on the small square pieces of paper...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiay7KycsfdEUX-Fx76ITqArpSvOhiTBOfMHm0vlXJEh2YKQz3AdL1_aiqDAaTEwFeYN6aHs3TR8nVi27n7xWiWcPDpz6hSETr7S55BN8CNgq5grZ561MOEtaXci2khisV9iJtjQ5o-Emc/s1600/IMG_1329.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiay7KycsfdEUX-Fx76ITqArpSvOhiTBOfMHm0vlXJEh2YKQz3AdL1_aiqDAaTEwFeYN6aHs3TR8nVi27n7xWiWcPDpz6hSETr7S55BN8CNgq5grZ561MOEtaXci2khisV9iJtjQ5o-Emc/s320/IMG_1329.JPG" t8="true" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Still writing & practicing her #'s...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4gOQKiCpbmYqBQXAnSUPm5x7z3RU2qTI9PNKw99idpP-hWrjbrv_lTuJiIDhaC-osG4Dfe-mX4qbFJMH3234Okv13jOvi3CRm_MRW79yV5Siwh-X0_4qhlZvUephlCliqm8wTL36Hd_g/s1600/IMG_1330.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4gOQKiCpbmYqBQXAnSUPm5x7z3RU2qTI9PNKw99idpP-hWrjbrv_lTuJiIDhaC-osG4Dfe-mX4qbFJMH3234Okv13jOvi3CRm_MRW79yV5Siwh-X0_4qhlZvUephlCliqm8wTL36Hd_g/s320/IMG_1330.JPG" t8="true" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then we fastened the numbers onto the piece of construction paper. We used small pieces of paper that were already part of a note pad so we only had to glue down the bottom one. Otherwise you could just place a small dot of glue on each square of paper to glue them together...the smaller the dab the easier to rip them apart! A stapler always works well too.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And here is M1 holding the finished countdown...we're down to 8 days now! We went from TONS of rain & cool weather to 86 and humid this week. Sounds great, but not when you're less than two weeks away from having a baby & carrying around a basketball in front of you!!! Luckily today provided some relief. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">But thanks to the warmer weather the flowers are in full bloom & the neighborhood yards are looking great. I have to keep reminding M1 & M2 not to pick people's flowers! Here is a flower craft we made this week that included some sorting as well.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong><em><u>Supplies</u></em></strong>- Construction Paper, Glue, Markers (opt.), Scissors, Colored Buttons</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9QrN7aFwWx21vXdbSnoKJIKaXvx405d1xJMg3SXCyWtvgRO69BySjWJ3KiDatlgg6liLR9sdK2aBHK4lv_6d80xMFZBpbPYkdR2pXkQCl0KwXHAppN-XKgCWGOVWWl50vgVVtVTg_4Yw/s1600/IMG_0308.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9QrN7aFwWx21vXdbSnoKJIKaXvx405d1xJMg3SXCyWtvgRO69BySjWJ3KiDatlgg6liLR9sdK2aBHK4lv_6d80xMFZBpbPYkdR2pXkQCl0KwXHAppN-XKgCWGOVWWl50vgVVtVTg_4Yw/s320/IMG_0308.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">1. I think I'll keep them handy for next year as well. I know from experience that it's always nice getting little things like this from students :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Below is a "TEA"cher Card. I'd probably print a cute message to post on the front of the tea cup as well...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwbGmfk1hziHN9hdgrfRcUqmwZ6nP25q1nZiozIhmrZT7zPIpnvdXmRE0qLQRp_mNA10INj6yv0Wjq12_nDE9OjFgkZ22vNWkPQE0MLhEcJnC67LcjLjp0ynhqlqrpgyW2jToFbXpbGFA/s1600/spot-of-tea-craft-photo-420-FF0511CARDA05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwbGmfk1hziHN9hdgrfRcUqmwZ6nP25q1nZiozIhmrZT7zPIpnvdXmRE0qLQRp_mNA10INj6yv0Wjq12_nDE9OjFgkZ22vNWkPQE0MLhEcJnC67LcjLjp0ynhqlqrpgyW2jToFbXpbGFA/s320/spot-of-tea-craft-photo-420-FF0511CARDA05.jpg" t8="true" width="320px" /></a></div><div align="center">This idea came from Family Fun. Just in time for her 4th Birthday on Monday. According to her, it just wouldn't be right to be in 3K as a four year old!!! Fortunately, in her case it works out that the finishes just days before her birthday :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I wanted to share the picture frame I crafted for her teacher. She was a nurse for years, stayed home with her kids for many years & then went back to get her teaching degree. So... this year is her first year as a teacher. I wanted to make something special for her. She's a terrific woman & has taught M1 oodles of things throughout the entire year. I'll be delighted for M2 to have her as a teacher in another year.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong><em><u>Supplies</u></em></strong>- Unfinished Wood Picture Frame, Mod Podge, Craft Paper or Ruled Paper, Hole Punch, Paint Brush, Paint, Alphabet Stickers.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcrwUMwW_tcJvw0z98qt6Td7AKfe_9tlCZKsnhXgKfVB9zwvEoE7tyqrT6mXVX6jxPPHtEKa4qktQ-IZtvefsK9U1e3VYVW4GICpXA3sE-UGLH6Cpgtvc0F5uxCmztzpGlaM5A_ytYW10/s1600/IMG_0627.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcrwUMwW_tcJvw0z98qt6Td7AKfe_9tlCZKsnhXgKfVB9zwvEoE7tyqrT6mXVX6jxPPHtEKa4qktQ-IZtvefsK9U1e3VYVW4GICpXA3sE-UGLH6Cpgtvc0F5uxCmztzpGlaM5A_ytYW10/s320/IMG_0627.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">1. I began by painting the frame a dark barn red color & allowed a few min. of drying time.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">*I got this frame from IKEA. It was a cheap pack of 3 unfinished picture frames that really come in handy when I'm looking for a quick Mod Podge project. I also regularly buy the unfinished wood frames from Michael's Arts & Crafts. Can't go wrong... they're only $1.00!!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1rFqImoSRkZ54uToExNEY8-_s4ty9aca7L1cxAoiP_L3u75LcuvTojRqE-vJvDhPaRCAYN9v5KfGwn0QlJHkvFhY-hlTKlMRJ0iud8SE9ooyGSBfbanJUtTE_J3WZFy5VrAX-XXQ1eH8/s1600/IMG_0628.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1rFqImoSRkZ54uToExNEY8-_s4ty9aca7L1cxAoiP_L3u75LcuvTojRqE-vJvDhPaRCAYN9v5KfGwn0QlJHkvFhY-hlTKlMRJ0iud8SE9ooyGSBfbanJUtTE_J3WZFy5VrAX-XXQ1eH8/s320/IMG_0628.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">2. While the frame dried, I went ahead & traced the frame onto my piece of craft paper. (I found a piece of paper @ the craft store that looks like a ruled piece of paper. If you don't have one you could just use a plain ruled piece of paper.)</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-M1DoviQXC3SqwTsOcdqEemwwU-EZTjxOy12IHUZM0RyriK_AbGfn5AmVpUiQYpKVqHfrO_dUXC0SkTdOUtq5yP59AhbALbvvpyh9wvapzJxDdQg0eu3-bQFr1mLCmR6tTy896B7nMd4/s1600/IMG_0630.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-M1DoviQXC3SqwTsOcdqEemwwU-EZTjxOy12IHUZM0RyriK_AbGfn5AmVpUiQYpKVqHfrO_dUXC0SkTdOUtq5yP59AhbALbvvpyh9wvapzJxDdQg0eu3-bQFr1mLCmR6tTy896B7nMd4/s320/IMG_0630.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">3. Cut out the rectangle & made it just a bit smaller than the face of the frame so some of the red paint would show around the edges.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">*Below I layed it out just to be sure it fit correctly.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt4MgIoxVNcWS03NIREO6R6pV3S7EGFsSeGKEbuMwPfO1hdBRMVMwfof0KbeKNeqF6ozpKTEJNxv01HATOODK363-gIpMRHiU6MY17mUAf4NOOSW4zBYht1ZdQiXs2zRPkHXttlOhilfE/s1600/IMG_0632.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjt4MgIoxVNcWS03NIREO6R6pV3S7EGFsSeGKEbuMwPfO1hdBRMVMwfof0KbeKNeqF6ozpKTEJNxv01HATOODK363-gIpMRHiU6MY17mUAf4NOOSW4zBYht1ZdQiXs2zRPkHXttlOhilfE/s320/IMG_0632.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">4. Use the Mod Podge and apply a layer to the entire face of the frame.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjL5MccLzJyHaa7PlPmrxetezvGJKuiRoBIB-y0jWYMRK-d2qf3yOyCvC0k8CJOUSej0bUvT4dClL7D2rrx3jmHZ7AsyhgiQO4NFcI6TXMEDrenbGGnjWdSG6tVrSnYFmpWxZulD7LZ9E/s1600/IMG_0633.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjL5MccLzJyHaa7PlPmrxetezvGJKuiRoBIB-y0jWYMRK-d2qf3yOyCvC0k8CJOUSej0bUvT4dClL7D2rrx3jmHZ7AsyhgiQO4NFcI6TXMEDrenbGGnjWdSG6tVrSnYFmpWxZulD7LZ9E/s320/IMG_0633.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">5. Lay the craft paper on top of the face of the frame over the Mod Podge glue. Be sure to press down around the entire frame to get any bubbles out & get it flat.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">6. I usually go over the entire surface with Mod Podge one more time once the paper is down to give it an extra layer to secure.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">7. Allow an hour or so to dry completely.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsoPVaRKguqYRSM8But-0hYDNXu46mtWmEGyhiV2-kSxttNcq6LMeelliP7fPn5wYFCWbU_kX9ePrwz2fHzqMLR2fBXWF8rTnykHFnYtr6MxkyYg7iSK5uaU-OfqTJcOXCX6nBQZOKxp0/s1600/IMG_0635.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsoPVaRKguqYRSM8But-0hYDNXu46mtWmEGyhiV2-kSxttNcq6LMeelliP7fPn5wYFCWbU_kX9ePrwz2fHzqMLR2fBXWF8rTnykHFnYtr6MxkyYg7iSK5uaU-OfqTJcOXCX6nBQZOKxp0/s320/IMG_0635.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">8. Use alphabet stickers to apply a message to the frame. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I chose "My First Year" since it's her first year as a teacher. I thought it would make a great memory. Other messages could include "World's Best Teacher" or "I Love My Teacher." You get the idea!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">(Also, if you don't have stickers you could use various letters from magazines cut out & glue onto the frame.)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">9. Once you've got your stickers in place, apply another thin layer of Mod Podge over the stickers to secure them as well. Allow to dry.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheBnfnRuNGfgcj9rJ8aSe9ujIz-NhBD_2A3QkMpcr2DgNihBb7gCng3hpwWKRQiD0askc57f91GW0kLXjd_EJ2a0sjD7nrkQhfbu6dx84HB0rkUP9LPBlStgybvWY_ELmvWd6ouXVPdF8/s1600/IMG_0641.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheBnfnRuNGfgcj9rJ8aSe9ujIz-NhBD_2A3QkMpcr2DgNihBb7gCng3hpwWKRQiD0askc57f91GW0kLXjd_EJ2a0sjD7nrkQhfbu6dx84HB0rkUP9LPBlStgybvWY_ELmvWd6ouXVPdF8/s320/IMG_0641.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And you're done! Not Healthy Food Cut-Out Activity<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A fun activity to get the little one's minds thinking about food. I feel like all my kids want to eat lately is JUNK! So this morning, the girls & I did this activity. Very easy & it was a great way to spark a good conversation about what foods we should be eating throughout the day! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

It's almost May! Our family continues to count down the weeks until baby M3 arrives, so we're thrilled to be so close to yet another month. We're also loving the warmer weather. Today we made after Easter treat using the jelly beans from the Easter bunny. They turned out so cute & we're calling them May Baskets! YUMMY!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I bought these from the store to use for the handles of the baskets...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdUmbS4gbXLg6DytjtDa2I33yS5kV2GuUjEZPIX2RCFe43S0hTQ5tbWZAlfikecjgkXGZUPY4R8erXhUmFgKcCkeCcdR4lVztyfYs52TcQVPAlC2rkiUoV5we2sE8UHAXs-F8a29APJVo/s1600/IMG_0163.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="147px" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdUmbS4gbXLg6DytjtDa2I33yS5kV2GuUjEZPIX2RCFe43S0hTQ5tbWZAlfikecjgkXGZUPY4R8erXhUmFgKcCkeCcdR4lVztyfYs52TcQVPAlC2rkiUoV5we2sE8UHAXs-F8a29APJVo/s320/IMG_0163.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then used a pizza cutter to slice them a bit thinner...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2g2TOu2OtDcJnDnM9dtQKr4CTfwyQuZvI9fkBMltCpyedXMsBTt3jZwTRiMQC0-NpaYrP65k_IrozalWbUTHCqa6AY2oJBAhfokDuPxgYt5kK86biRsDyUcYURRyj2Ndc2tw6R_xLU1c/s1600/IMG_0166.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214px" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2g2TOu2OtDcJnDnM9dtQKr4CTfwyQuZvI9fkBMltCpyedXMsBTt3jZwTRiMQC0-NpaYrP65k_IrozalWbUTHCqa6AY2oJBAhfokDuPxgYt5kK86biRsDyUcYURRyj2Ndc2tw6R_xLU1c/s320/IMG_0166.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I also lined them up & let them sit over night thinking they would harden a bit to make a more stiff handle, but they were still pretty soft the next morning. After a week of baby shower planning (I hosted a shower yesterday.) we're back into Easter mode. This week we've had some pretty severe weather, including a couple tornadoes. Perfect timing since it's Tornado & Severe Weather Awareness Month! The girls managed to sleep through it all but we thought it was still important to talk to them about the situation. My husband is off a few days this week to allow me to spend some time with one of my bf's visiting from Australia, so I thought I'd find an activity for them to do together while I'm out shopping & enjoying some adult time. Here is what I suggested... Tornado in a bottle! (I'll keep you posted as to how it goes... )</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It's a classic & a staple in most elementary classrooms.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong><u><em>Supplies</em></u></strong>- 2- two Liter Bottles, Duct Tape, 1 inch Metal Washer, Water, Glitter, Food Coloring, Scissors, Hot Glue Gun (optional)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">(*Images below are all from the web, not my personal pictures)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2Dgse7zoT7Aw3fPPJTY3DcpZJIJ54NuNqa6Ux_PJ6ztAK-s7Fyzk47XzZ6R2FQd6u42ummhcFGcIWgVW3pqgf2LDsrEw4l-pcUQjx6ghnDfovlUDzPigLjWNn5nN2nCKGx7zlKTFvgXg/s1600/tornado.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2Dgse7zoT7Aw3fPPJTY3DcpZJIJ54NuNqa6Ux_PJ6ztAK-s7Fyzk47XzZ6R2FQd6u42ummhcFGcIWgVW3pqgf2LDsrEw4l-pcUQjx6ghnDfovlUDzPigLjWNn5nN2nCKGx7zlKTFvgXg/s200/tornado.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">1. Fill one of the bottles about 2/3 way full of water. <u><strong>Optional</strong></u>- add food coloring to give your tornado color or glitter to mimic debris that the tornado picks up along the way. </div><div style="text-align: center;">2. Place the metal washer over the opening of the bottle </div><div style="text-align: center;">3. Use duct tape to fasten the two containers and the metal washer together. Make sure to make the tape tight so no water leaks out. <strong><u>Optional</u></strong>- I've used a bit of hot glue during this step while making this in my classrooms as well. It helps create more of a waterproof barrier underneath the duct tape.</div><div style="text-align: center;">4. Turn the bottle with water over so that it is on top. Swirl the bottle in a circular motion. A tornado will form as the water rushes from the top bottle to the bottom bottle. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The finished product should look like this...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFRdTZZqz4SlQ4U3dmRfI6_yFK8OjRAcy8e-dJiBPRDQ4MWHvVI_l4mu7rt_ZFm1X3u0Wk-GDEp7WTz1T9uB9i_SLyGLBAHZ30i0bPRf8YBfwds3gzeIcpvQ9quYLalakhc2n4BRsNy2M/s1600/tornado1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFRdTZZqz4SlQ4U3dmRfI6_yFK8OjRAcy8e-dJiBPRDQ4MWHvVI_l4mu7rt_ZFm1X3u0Wk-GDEp7WTz1T9uB9i_SLyGLBAHZ30i0bPRf8YBfwds3gzeIcpvQ9quYLalakhc2n4BRsNy2M/s200/tornado1.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">If you want to be really fancy & save the time/mess of duct taping the bottles together, you can usually find one of these fun tornado in a bottle "tools" to create the same effect at a local school/teacher supply store.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">They are fairly cheap & can be used over & over.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD6RQ6swj-v4VX0MxXoP7z-3LN8EAnjHLY-qgGdSU4ZtJyhS1LYzJyCNToBGoUewqbDtWjl_MfBXWuWYZrUAIgdCp7L7uWlRpPq48wUAJi0Nkf4na0cr7ENIUNT8B8IlFm4WH4OpSD_6M/s1600/tornado2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD6RQ6swj-v4VX0MxXoP7z-3LN8EAnjHLY-qgGdSU4ZtJyhS1LYzJyCNToBGoUewqbDtWjl_MfBXWuWYZrUAIgdCp7L7uWlRpPq48wUAJi0Nkf4na0cr7ENIUNT8B8IlFm4WH4OpSD_6M/s1600/tornado2.jpg" /></a></div><div align="center">I'd also like to try to create a tornado in a bottle using two smaller water bottles to see if they would work just as well. The bonus is they wouldn't be as heavy as the filled 2 liter bottles... much easier for M1 & M2. Has anyone tried this?</div><div align="center">Enjoy! s.b.</div>s.b.http://www.blogger.com/profile/09206585483406878170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7832483606597909230.post-78013005175500181432011-04-06T07:53:00.000-05:002011-04-06T07:53:24.194-05:00Yellow Easter Chick<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Our 1st Easter craft this spring...Now if the weather would just warm up a bit so it would actually feel like spring! Doesn't this look delicious?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNRsHNYj2BlOXmvbJ6KcY-K09N3xnG_LLrcCWhYq4MbFgFgbLbxQdFVQPW7T00MmqAKFWM7Uzf9_A11EsV96Q7NYyDV129eswYnIVcwUoxga7pWOFz36QUzVugW_H_pZ3MQz5hR9YtoLI/s1600/Kings+Cake2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" q6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNRsHNYj2BlOXmvbJ6KcY-K09N3xnG_LLrcCWhYq4MbFgFgbLbxQdFVQPW7T00MmqAKFWM7Uzf9_A11EsV96Q7NYyDV129eswYnIVcwUoxga7pWOFz36QUzVugW_H_pZ3MQz5hR9YtoLI/s1600/Kings+Cake2.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I found the recipe for this traditional Mardi Gras Kings Cake here @ <a href="http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/mardi-gras-king-cake/Detail.aspx">Allrecipes.com</a> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I remember making one in school when I was young, complete with the plastic baby inside & all! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Give it a try...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It looks absolutely delicious & the girls would love it. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong><u>BUT</u></strong>, it does seem like a lot of work... the girls would only eat a small piece & I'd probably end up eating the entire thing myself! Not what I need being 7 months pregnant!!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><strong><u>So</u></strong> a much easier Kings Cake alternative (the one that I'll definitely sign up for this afternoon after nap time) would be to make a quick stop at the grocery store & pick up a plain glazed donut for each child...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYDeZ7_2LuhEbX1iH5zIMXPQcNrsPwD3jUXMK7UHzka7C0jEo0QsGHEfm8zZlnTJVinNDuFXOM77f6qg4W9_Ab8qfGlRfqPKRsmSR5iuPPS6NYH0hvVpFykobAEUcIE9M86HojbcRrE5k/s1600/Glazeddonut.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" q6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYDeZ7_2LuhEbX1iH5zIMXPQcNrsPwD3jUXMK7UHzka7C0jEo0QsGHEfm8zZlnTJVinNDuFXOM77f6qg4W9_Ab8qfGlRfqPKRsmSR5iuPPS6NYH0hvVpFykobAEUcIE9M86HojbcRrE5k/s1600/Glazeddonut.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Once at home I'll whip up some easy powdered sugar frosting (a mixture of powdered sugar & water), separate the frosting into three dishes & color it green, yellow & purple. Then M1 & M2 can spread the green, purple & yellow icing onto their donuts themselves.(Alternating colors) I picture it to look somewhat like this...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-0ZosVpNLDyNSY4Iu5ugWbRqG1pvgs1qjCQL-O0x-3MKfSqUliHCiWpCBiWqLZlyKfiqRIzJJAlZA_XAWzOMUYuAE2jpdx1lqISGptCo-25Pw8SQ1ILy9FbkgifjVks0cZ-ysJ8B-dxQ/s1600/Glazeddonut2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" q6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-0ZosVpNLDyNSY4Iu5ugWbRqG1pvgs1qjCQL-O0x-3MKfSqUliHCiWpCBiWqLZlyKfiqRIzJJAlZA_XAWzOMUYuAE2jpdx1lqISGptCo-25Pw8SQ1ILy9FbkgifjVks0cZ-ysJ8B-dxQ/s1600/Glazeddonut2.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Much easier & hands on for the girls as well! </div><div style="text-align: center;">I decided to post the idea using existing pictures from the web so you could give it a try as well. If I wait until I photograph M1 & M2 making them this afternoon it would be a bit late & Fat Tues. would be long over...</div><div style="text-align: center;"> I'm looking forward to surprising the girls with this Kings Cake treat later, I think they'll really enjoy </div><div style="text-align: center;">it & I know it will taste great!</div><div style="text-align: center;">I also hope it turns out as planned in my head :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Enjoy! s.b.</div>s.b.http://www.blogger.com/profile/09206585483406878170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7832483606597909230.post-35593741295931847942011-03-07T09:51:00.000-06:002011-03-07T09:51:05.669-06:00Mardi Gras Masks<div style="text-align: center;">It's Mardi Gras time!
